Alright, so I've been watching both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions and I have one major observation to make about both.
It seems like the Democratic convention focused on policy issues and how an Obama administration would tackle these policy issues. Which is fine. If I'm going to lend my support to a candidate, I want to know what their policy issues are.
The Republican convention, on the other hand, is focusing on how un-qualified the Democratic ticket is. They're not offering their policies or how a McCain administration would tackle policy. It seems to be something like this: "Obama is not qualified and there are a million other reasons why you shouldn't vote for him so you have to vote for us!"
One problem with that: What are your stances on policy issues, Republicans? I know I can go to your various campaign websites and see for myself, but I want a principled argument from your side why I should vote for you. To say that Obama is inexperienced - even if he might be - is not the basis for an academic argument.
Cheers-
Edward Jensen
